The Leather & Hide Council of America is taking its successful student design competition global. This year, students from around the world will be able to compete in an open invitation contest, aimed at showcasing the beauty, versatility and sustainability of real leather while recognizing tomorrow’s design talent.
The competition will run alongside existing national campaigns in Italy, the UK, China and Taiwan and offer one outstanding prize: a career-enhancing opportunity to appear in the internationally acclaimed Rollacoaster, a magazine dedicated to emerging talent, fashion and music.
Kevin Latner, vice president of the Leather and Hide Council of America, said, “In Europe, sustainability policy is largely driven by public opinion. That’s why we’ve created an attention-grabbing consumer platform and design competition, to communicate our message to this influential group. Our focus is on slow fashion – the idea that natural leather products not only look good but are made to last a lifetime, not end up in landfill like so many of today’s throwaway fashion.”
The competition launches on 25 January and will remain open for entries until midnight on 28 April 2021.
