U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack reaffirmed USDA’s commitment to tackling climate change through innovation in all its forms.
Scaling up production to feed a growing world while minimizing impacts on natural resources requires continued investment in research and development, he told the G-20 Open Forum on Sustainable Agriculture on 16 September in Florence.
He went on to highlight the importance of collective action in bolstering sustainable productivity growth, along with open markets that “guard against trade barriers that discriminate against particular production practices even when the system is delivering positive outcomes.”
