U.S. Soy Export Council Director, Bob Metz, a soybean and corn farmer from South Dakota and the U.S. Sustainability Alliance (USSA) Senior Technical Advisor, David Green, provided an overview of the Alliance and the ongoing efforts on conservation and sustainability of U.S. agriculture, forestry and fisheries to nearly 60 visitors at the USA Pavilion at the Expo Milano 2015.
The Expo opened on May 1 and Bob Metz and David Green visited the fair on May 7 and 8. It is expected that more than 22 million people from across the world will visit Expo during its six-month run ending on October 31.
The Ted-type talk was given on May 7 on the deck of the USA Pavilion and involved a large number of Italian students who asked questions on precision agriculture; obesity; fertilizer use; new technologies and the effects of drought on U.S. crops.
Following the talk Metz and Green were interviewed by three journalists and met with several EU stakeholders who had further questions on U.S. conservation and sustainability programs.
Elsewhere, the USSA was featured on storyboard displays and interactive sights. The USA Pavilion online site also will feature a number of articles on all the USSA partners and some of their members.
