Membership levels in Field To Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture have more than doubled in less than 24 months since it first opened its offices in March 2014. This means that more U.S. organizations across the food and agricultural supply chain are committed to assessing and advancing their sustainability performance.
Across the entire agriculture supply chain—from the farm gate to the restaurant counter—the challenge of meeting demand for a rapidly growing population, while conserving natural resources, has become increasingly complex. With the world population estimated to reach 9 billion by 2050, the entire food chain must work together to efficiently and responsibly lay the groundwork for the future.
Field to Market – comprised of grower groups; agribusiness companies; food, beverage, restaurant and retail companies; conservation groups; universities; and public sector partners – promotes a voluntary, collaborative approach to sustainability that is expressly science-based, technology neutral and focused on outcomes. It provides useful measurement tools and resources for growers and the supply chain that track and create opportunities for continuous improvement at the farm level. It recently published an Environmental and Socioeconomic Indicators Report, which analyzes sustainability trends over time.
