In the latest episode of This is U.S. Sustainability, the USSA podcast, we explore the devastating effects of erosion on Louisiana’s coastal wetlands and the ecosystems and communities they support. The scale of the problem is eye-opening: Louisiana’s coastal wetlands are disappearing at an alarming rate, and without intervention, scientific models show that even a moderate land loss scenario over the next 50 years puts an additional 2,250 square miles at risk. We visited the Center for River Studies in Baton Rouge to meet the organization spearheading efforts to reverse the loss and create a more sustainable coastline. Join us as we talk to Greg Grandy, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority’s Deputy Executive Director, about some of the agency’s pioneering projects.
