SUMMARY: A landmark study on the benefits of global conservation efforts.
DESCRIPTION: A new ten-year study shows that conservation works! Researchers from environmental conservation organization Re:wild and academic institutions including Oxford University, Arizona State University and the University of Kent conducted a global meta-analysis of 186 studies to measure the impact of conservation efforts on biodiversity over time. They found that conservation interventions are effective, halting or reversing biodiversity loss in two-thirds of cases, but need “transformational scaling-up” to meet global targets.
