DESCRIPTION: The United States is one of the world’s top global producers and exporters of meat and dairy. It exported over $36 billion in animal products in 2021, representing more than 18 percent of U.S. agricultural trade. However, global competitors pose a challenge, as outlined in this analysis of today’s complex trade environment. The study highlights the risks and opportunities for American agricultural products and assesses performance across the four major animal commodities: beef, pork, chicken, and dairy.
