DESCRIPTION: This new publication, written by 26 independent researchers and peer-reviewed by the National Academy of Sciences, explores how U.S. agriculture can reduce its carbon footprint and potentially achieve greenhouse gas (GHG) neutrality. The report identifies five major areas where agriculture can cut its GHG emissions most significantly and outlines the conservation practices that could have the greatest impact. Areas covered include soil carbon management, nitrogen fertilizer management, closing the yield gap, animal production and management, and efficient energy use.
