TOPIC: Global food security
SUMMARY: An annual assessment of global food security over the next ten years
DESCRIPTION: Using a demand-driven model that includes income, food prices, and food supply, USDA ERS analyzes food security trends in 83 low- and middle-income countries that are current or former food aid recipients. Despite the short-term challenges posed by the pandemic, high food commodity prices, and the war in Ukraine, it predicts that food security will improve in all countries included in its assessment in the next ten years – although there may be some regional variations.
