DESCRIPTION: Extreme heat episodes are among the most serious hazards facing global agriculture and food security. This joint report from FAO and WMO examines how rising temperatures and the increased frequency of heatwaves, including those that affected North America in 2021, are reshaping production conditions across crops, livestock, fisheries and forests, while also increasing risks to agricultural workers and rural communities. It sets out the need for urgent adaptation, including stronger resilience planning, early warning systems and support for producers.
