Description: The California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance’s 2025 California Wine Community Sustainability Report documents five years of progress in the adoption and certification of sustainable practices across vineyards and wineries.
Around 70% of California winegrape acreage is now certified to a sustainability program, while more than 90% of California wine is produced in a certified sustainable winery. The report also finds measurable improvement since 2020 across 65% of the vineyard sustainability criteria assessed and 53% of winery criteria.
Areas of progress include soil health, energy efficiency, pest management, employee engagement, and resource conservation, demonstrating how growers and vintners are translating sustainability commitments into practical, measurable action across the state.
