European exports of agricultural products rose 5.7 percent to reach $144 billion (€129 billion) in 2015, making the EU the world’s number one exporter.  The main boost to European exports came from China, with about half of last year’s total gain stemming from increased demand there.  Agri-food exports make up more than 7 percent of all goods exported from the EU.  The net trade surplus in the sector was €16 billion.
